Limited run for V12 supercar

Aston Martin has confirmed production of limited numbers of the new V12 Zagato.

Winning a design award in the concepts and prototypes class at the Villa d’Este Concours and proving its durability by completing the Nürburgring 24 Hour drew customer interest and pushed the company to confirm the build.

The Zagato, based on the V12 Vantage and sporting a beautifully handcrafted aluminium and carbon-fibre body, will start in 2012 at the Gaydon plant, England.

DESIGNED FOR FOCUSED DRIVER

The V12 Zagato delivers a beautiful and muscular design not possible using pre-formed panel techniques. Every aluminium panel was formed using an English wheel, a tool used to make smooth curves from flat metal sheets and traditionally crafted body bucks. Iconic Zagato design cues include the double bubble roof created from five pieces. Designing began in 2010, initial engineering followed in early 2011.

The car is for the focused driver, honed for pure driving enjoyment and combining Aston Martin’s most dynamic bonded aluminium platform with the power of the six litre V12 producing 380 kW and 570 Nm.

DEVELOPED AS ENDURANCE CARS

The first two V12 Zagatos were developed as endurance race cars and had their track debut just a week after being shown to the public for the first time on the shore of Lake Como, Italy at the Villa d’Este Concours.

The Aston Martin V12 Zagato is on sale at the equivalent of R3.5-million on a first come, first served basis.
